Preview: Orchestra prepares for Fall Fusion Conert

VIDEO PRODUCED BY SAM STYNEN AND RYAN SMITH

McQueen’s Orchestra is performing its Fall Fusion concert this Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.

But, this isn’t just any concert.

Orchestra teacher Kenny Baker said this is the first time both orchestras, chamber and sinfonia, will be performing together. The show will include sophomore and upperclassmen, as well as students playing electric instruments.

The performance will also be documented by the Yamaha Corporation, which makes electric instruments and sound equipment, and will be featured in its educational and promotional materials.

“This is a lot of pressure because this isn’t just performing for an audience of family members and other members of the school,” Baker said before orchestra rehearsals Friday afternoon. “This is going to a national, if not international audience. We’ve never done anything like this before.”

Editor’s note: Check back soon for a complete behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to prepare for a McQueen orchestra concert.
